How We Got This Shindig Rolling
At A-Kon 17:
In a split second decision, a few minutes after the snooze button was smashed back into it's base in the alarm clock, a thought passed through our minds: to go or not to a cosplay panel at the crack of dawn [10 am]. After not too much grunting we decided to go. On that whim, we raced to remove morning grogginess and run down to the con.
Upon arrival we worked our way to the mid-front section and before us stood the cosplay group of Limit Break. As the panel progressed, they began to discuss wigs. Gren went into depth about the types of plastics and chemistry behind sharpie dye. After the panel, you could say that the knowledge shared would shine as a beacon and act as the spark for Dark and I to push our cosplay to the next level: cosplaying seriously with makeup, attention to detail, wigs, and other fantastical realms we had yet to stumble into with the panels at cons as our guide.
About a month later, Video Games Live visited our homebase, and I blurted out let's cosplay something! That was 4 days before the concert. So the Turks it was. We set our sights on Reno and Tseng. Dark had the hair for Tseng but I picked Reno...and I had never even bought a wig before. I hunted down a silver wig the same day and went to work hand coloring the thing. Many hours and lost brain cells later, I had a somewhat convincing red color complete with a once blond - gone red-head ponytail.
It wasn't detailed but people recognized us. My that was astounding! A few more months down that road, I went to Dark wanting to cosplay Axel and Roxas after just finishing Kingdom Hearts II. What followed was Deep Dive and our bust out [not really though XD] cosplay at Anime Boston. Now a couple of years later, we're looking to immerse ourselves and join the cosplay community. Woo!

What got you into cosplay: Initially, I started cosplaying for only for Halloween, but after meeting a group of good friends, who cosplayed at conventions, I became more interested. The first time I attended A-Kon, I was amazed at all the intricate detailing and endless effort cosplayers put into their art. Then I created my first "real" cosplay from scratch, and that was when I decided cosplay was for me.

What got you into cosplay: I liked the clothes that Tomoyo made for Sakura in CCS so for Halloween one year I dressed up as her. Not a dramatic beginning but it was the spark. As for cosplaying seriously, that's completely different. The me in the not so distant past of several years ago, went to a wig panel hosted by the fabulous Limit Break. That's when the epiphany hit me and I bought and dyed my first wig. Several hours of sharpying later, I was hooked.
